Boiler Sampling Pipe
This 1/2" and 3/4" NPT continuous plumbing kit is used for a continuous sampling of your steam boiler water. The lower orifice bleeds a small sample across the sensor. The upper orifice is used with the
blowdown valve. The orifice restricts flow near the boiler sensor to prevent steam flashing during a sample. All the items in the above photo are included with this kit.

Boiler orifice unions are milled for 1/2" and 3/4" NPT pipes and they are designed to fit
boiler orifice plates. The purpose of a boiler orifice plate is to reduce the flow rate and to eliminate steam flashing over the controller conductivity probe. Without this steam flow restriction, false reading may be sent to your
boiler blowdown controller, resulting in the steam boiler
blowdown valve to power on/off repeatedly.
Boiler globe valves may also be used in place of orifice plates and milled unions.
Improper control of your boiler blowdown controller will also increase blowdown rates, increased energy costs, and increase
steam boiler chemicals use.
