Description

Synthetic Rust Inhibitor

ChemWorld ALTO 408 is a water based immersion and/or spray inhibitor based on unique amine chemistry. Imperceptible film and excellent sump clarity. This product is typically feed at 2% to 3% by volume with water, but may be higher depending on how long corrosion protection is needed. ChemWorld ACS oil based product will last longer than ChemWorld ALTO 408. This product is to simply protect the surface of the metal flash rusting after a cleaning. It will not double as a paint or straight oil based rust inhibitor used at 100% by volume.

We provide private labeling of products from 2 oz to tankers. Please email us at Quotes@ChemWorld.com for more information.

I have CNC machines that we don’t use coolant in anymore we have straight water that we spray the machine out with. Do you have a rust inhibitor that we can add to the water to prevent the steel from rusting?
Yes, a water based, clear, synthetic rust inhibitor would be the Chemworld ALTO 408. Dilute down to a 3%BV solution with water.
We have started using your ALTO408 as suggested but when it comes time for us to rinse the residual blasting material off our parts they begin to rust again. What might be causing this?
The important thing to remember is that all of these products are 100% water based. Once you rinse them with plain water the protection is gone. You may wish to rinse with the 408 through a Dema injector or Dosatron set at 0.5% to 1.0%BV. A second thought is our ChemWorld 785RP, which is a polymeric rust inhibitor that is the combination of the 408 plus polymers that actually dry down on the surface. Once dry they resist rinsing off. They MUST be dry before rinsing or they too will rinse off.
Is Chemworld ALTO 408 synthetic rust inhibitor capable of protecting brushed steel? Is it compatible with powder coat? Is it silicone based? Our steel parts are welded and brushed, we will spray the rust inhibitor on the brushed steel to prevent rust before powder coating. The parts will be stored indoors and painted within a couple of days of fabrication. Is the Chemworld ALTO 408 suitable for this use?
Using ALTO 408 as a flash rust inhibitor is quite common. Probably 1%BV would be all that is needed. We strongly suggest testing on scrap parts prior to putting them into production. Typically concentration would be in the 0.5% to 1.0%BV with water. The Inhibitor contains no silicone and is typically used on steel and cast iron.Rinsing the parts prior to powder coating is not required but it is always beneficial if you can rinse them just prior to the coating.
