Description
Alkalinity Test Kits
ChemWorld Alkalinity Test kits are titrated with a standard acid solution to a specific pH endpoint. Phenolphthalein, pH 8.3 which is P Alkalinity / Total Alkalinity Indicator, pH 4.6 which is T Alkalinity.
TK1018-Z Directions:
- Rinse 3 times and add 25 mL of solution.
- Add 3 drops of P Indicator.
- Add Alkalinity Titrant one drop at a time until it turns colorless.
- Add 3 drops of Total Alkalinity Indicator. (should turn green)
- Add one drop at a time till it turns pink.
- # drops x 10 = ppm as CaCO3
- Total OH = (2xP) - M
TK1018-Z - Add the 3 drops of P indicator to start the process and no color change happens. Tried multiple samples, no color change at all. What am I doing wrong? If there is no color change, the most likely reason is that there is no P Alkalinity in the sample. You can follow the rest of the procedure and just add zero drops for the P Alkalinity in the equation.
